Livingston Parish Fair October 6—14th Carnival Rides open on the Tuesday the 9th
It’s going to be a grand celebration—75 years and counting! Our little chunk of coal has been refined and polished through the years and we are celebrating our diamond jubilee. This year is our 75th anniversary as the Livingston Parish Fair.
We welcome you as our guest and look forward to visiting with you at the fair. As always and in celebration of a long standing tradition—there is no admission charge to enter and no parking fee.
We have added entertainment this year, fireworks, an additional rodeo performance, a field trip day for school children to visit the grounds and we will be celebrating with former fair queens and fair officials at a reception in their honor. We are very excited about the schedule of activities.
It is a very busy time of year for us in getting final preparations in order for the opening of the fair. An unexpected visit from Issac, a category 1 hurricane, has put a little more pressure on us than expected. Our office, green barn and kitchen had approximately 6 to 8 inches of water in each. We are working fast and furious to get everything back in order in addition to the normal preparations involved in start up. We were blessed in that this is something we can overcome and as they say in the business “the show must go on.” Indeed the show will go on as scheduled.
In addition to the exciting carnival rides and games that Mitchell Brothers brings to us each year, we have a full slate of activities. Entertainment will be provided free to the public . We have a stage set up on the grounds and entertainment will be showcased throughout the week. A parade, spelling Bee, talent show, beauty pageants, PCA rodeo, tractor pull events, cheerleading competition, local school students with special needs and older folks who are 75 years or older and residents of the parish are both honored during a special time for each to enjoy the fair, fun and academic bowl competitions, livestock, school displays, posters, essays, handicrafts, and a vendor/crafts area are a small list of the many activities throughout the week..
Our association members work tirelessly throughout the year to bring this event to the citizens of the parish. Once again we look forward to making this an event to remember. Please join us for our 75th anniversary celebration.
